3 Days Desert Tour: Marrakech to Fes via Merzouga
This 3-day journey from Marrakech to Fes is one of the most popular desert tours in Morocco, combining breathtaking landscapes, cultural highlights, and an unforgettable Sahara experience.
You will travel through the High Atlas Mountains, visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou, explore the beautiful Rose Valley and Dades Valley, and continue to the magical dunes of Merzouga. Enjoy a camel trek and spend the night in a desert camp under the stars. The journey then continues towards Fes, passing through traditional towns, lush valleys, cedar forests, and the charming town of Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco.”
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley
After meeting at the agreed location, we begin our journey to the southeast, crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass. Enjoy panoramic views and traditional Berber villages along the way. We visit the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, followed by lunch near the kasbah. We then continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa,” before heading through the Rose Valley to reach the stunning Dades Valley, where you will spend the night in a hotel or riad.
Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Merzouga Desert
After breakfast, we continue towards Merzouga, passing through Berber villages and the dramatic Todra Gorge, a favorite spot for nature lovers and photographers. We drive through Tinghir, Tinjdad, and Erfoud, where the landscape gradually changes into the desert oasis of Tafilalet. Upon arrival in Merzouga, you will enjoy a camel trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, just in time for sunset. At the camp, you can try sandboarding, walk to the highest dunes, and enjoy a magical evening with traditional music around the campfire. Overnight in a comfortable desert tent.
Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Midelt – Azrou – Ifrane – Fes
Wake up early to witness a spectacular sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast at the camp. Then ride the camels back to meet your driver. We begin the journey to Fes, passing through Rissani, Erfoud, and the scenic Ziz Valley, with a stop to enjoy panoramic views of the oasis. Continue to Midelt for lunch, then travel عبر the Middle Atlas Mountains. Along the way, we stop in the Cedar Forest near Azrou, where you may see Barbary macaques, and visit Ifrane, known for its alpine-style architecture. Arrival in Fes in the late afternoon, where your tour ends.
