4 Days Desert Tour: Marrakech – Merzouga – Fes
This 4-day desert tour from Marrakech to Fes is a complete journey through the most spectacular landscapes of Morocco. From the High Atlas Mountains to the golden dunes of the Sahara, this tour combines culture, adventure, and authentic experiences.
You will visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou, explore Ouarzazate—known as the “Hollywood of Africa”—with a stop at the famous Atlas Film Studios and Taourirt Kasbah, and travel through the beautiful Rose Valley and Dades Valley.
In the Sahara, you will enjoy a camel trek across the dunes of Erg Chebbi, spend magical nights in a desert camp, and discover nomadic life and Berber culture. The journey continues towards Fes through Rissani, the Ziz Valley, Midelt, the Cedar Forest of Azrou, and Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco.”
Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley
After meeting at the agreed location, we begin our journey through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260m), enjoying breathtaking views and traditional Berber villages. We visit the famous Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and filming location for many movies. After lunch, we continue to Ouarzazate, with a photo stop at the Atlas Studios and a visit to Taourirt Kasbah. We then travel through the Skoura palm grove and the Rose Valley, known for its rose products and annual festival, before arriving in the Dades Valley for an overnight stay.
Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Merzouga Desert
After breakfast, we head towards the impressive Todra Gorge, famous for its dramatic cliffs and beautiful scenery. We continue through Tinjdad and Erfoud, where you will visit a local fossil workshop, before reaching Merzouga. Here, you will enjoy a camel trek across the dunes of Erg Chebbi, arriving at your desert camp in time for sunset. Dinner and overnight in a comfortable desert tent under the stars.
Day 3: Merzouga – Nomads – Khamlia – Erg Chebbi
Wake up early to enjoy a spectacular sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, explore the desert surroundings. You will visit nomad families, discover their lifestyle, and enjoy panoramic views of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Later, visit Khamlia village, known for its traditional Gnawa music. Free time in the afternoon to relax or explore the dunes. Dinner and overnight in a hotel near the desert.
Day 4: Merzouga – Rissani – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Azrou – Ifrane – Fes
After breakfast, we begin our journey to Fes, passing through the Tafilalet palm grove and the scenic Ziz Valley, with stops for panoramic views. We continue to Midelt for lunch, then drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop in the Cedar Forest of Azrou to see Barbary macaques, and visit Ifrane, known for its alpine-style architecture. Arrival in Fes in the late afternoon.
