We will start our 4-day desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga. Crossing the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass. Along the way, we will visit the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. And continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa,” with a photo stop at the renowned Atlas Film Studios.
The journey continues through the beautiful Rose Valley and the stunning Dades Valley, where we will spend the first night. The next day, we travel through Tinghir and the impressive Todra Gorge before heading towards the Merzouga Desert.
Upon arrival, you will enjoy a camel trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, reaching your desert camp in time for sunset. Spend a magical night in a traditional Berber tent in the heart of the dunes.
After breakfast, we begin our return journey to Marrakech, passing once again through the diverse and spectacular landscapes of southern Morocco.
1st Day : Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate
After we met at the place that we had agreed upon. Will star our tour to southeast through the High Atlas via the High Atlas mountains. We will cross in Tizi N tichka pass, that with 2.260ms is the highest point in our country. We´ll enjoy beautiful landscapes from the viewpoints on the way and make some stops to take pictures of the Berber villages. We reach the Kasbah of Ait Ben haddou, the recognized one by the UNISCO as a world heritage site since 1986, where many films took place such as Alexander, Gladiator, Babel … Then we will continue our way to Ouarzazate “the Hollywood of Africa” and stop for pictures next largest studio in Africa.
2nd Day : Ouarzazate – Draa Valley – Merzouga Desert – Camel ride and night in the Berber tent
After breakfast we will depart towards the Draa Valley where you can see one of the longest rivers in Morocco, on the way we make some stops to take pictures and enjoy the view of the spectacular kasbahs and berber villages that dot the road as well as the beauties of the Draa valley. We will stop in Nkob or Alnif where you will enjoy your lunch, and then after two hours driving. We´ll reach the wonderful Merzouga dunes. We´ll change there our motorized transportation to camls traction to go inside the heart of the desert, when we reach the camp, we accommodate in the tents, that are tents made of camel hair, just like the ones used by nomad families. Dinner and night in the berber tent under beautiful starry sky.
3rd Day : Merzouga Desert – Rissani Market – Erfoud Fossil’s – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
You wake up early morning to enjoy the sunrise on the top of the dune in the Sahara Desert, then have your breakfast and shower. After these beautiful moments. We will come back again to Rissani where we will visit the Rissani market. Then we continue to Erfoud where we can visit the manufactures of fossilized marble before starting our way to Touroug and Tinjdad palm groves. One hour later we will reach one of the best places of the High Atlas, the Todra Gorges, the course of the river has carved out cliff-sided canyon and it´s because of its beauty and the high rock sides that´s very popular among climbers, free time to have lunch in this wonderful place, a short walk through the gorges is very advisable to better appreciate the beauty of the landscape. In the afternoon we continue to the Dades Valley through Boumalne Dades. Overnight in Riad or Hotel.
4th Day : Dades Valley – Roses Valley – Skoura – High Atlas – Marrakech
After breakfast we will enjoy one of the better views of the Dades valley from one strategic lookout in the mountains,
from there we can appreciate the great number of kasbahs and the scenic characteristics of each one. Then we continue by a road dot with different kasbahs of touristic interest. After some stops to enjoy the “thousand kasbahs road”, the Roses Valley an the big Skourapalm grove we will get to Ouarzazate to visit the Kasbah of Taourirt, old residence of the Glaoui or Marrakech pasha. And if you are interested we can visit the cinema studios and tue cinema museum. Free time for lunch in town. In the afternoon we will start our way back to Marrakech through via Tizi Ntichka.
