9-Day Morocco Tour: From Fes to Marrakech via the Sahara Desert

 Day 1: Arrival in Fes

Upon arrival at Fes airport, you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel or riad in the heart of the medina. Overnight stay in Fes.

 Day 2: Guided Tour of Fes

Explore Fes, Morocco’s cultural and spiritual capital, with a local guide. Wander through the ancient medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where time seems to stand still. Discover traditional souks, historic madrasas, mosques, and artisan quarters. Visit Fes el-Jdid, including the Royal Palace, the Mellah (Jewish quarter), and enjoy panoramic views of the city. Overnight stay in Fes.

 Day 3: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga

After breakfast, journey through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop in Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” and continue to Azrou Cedar Forest, home to Barbary monkeys. Drive through Midelt and the scenic Ziz Valley, famous for its palm groves, before reaching Merzouga, gateway to the Sahara Desert. Dinner and overnight in a hotel or riad.

 Day 4: Merzouga Desert Experience

After breakfast, explore the desert region by 4×4, visiting nomadic families and the village of Khamlia, known for its traditional Gnawa music. In the afternoon, enjoy a camel trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi to witness a magical sunset. Spend the night in a Berber desert camp with dinner, music, and a spectacular starry sky.

 Day 5: Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

Wake early to admire the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, depart toward Rissani and continue to the impressive Todra Gorges, where you can walk through dramatic canyon walls. Continue to the beautiful Dades Valley. Dinner and overnight in a hotel.

 Day 6: Dades Valley – Roses Valley – Skoura – Ouarzazate

Travel through the scenic Valley of Roses and Skoura Oasis, known for its palm groves and historic kasbahs. Arrive in Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa.” Overnight stay in Ouarzazate.

 Day 7: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – High Atlas – Marrakech

Visit the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site and filming location for many movies. Cross the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass in the High Atlas Mountains, enjoying breathtaking views along the way, before arriving in Marrakech. Overnight stay in a riad or hotel.

 Day 8: Guided Tour of Marrakech

Discover Marrakech with a local guide. Visit Jemaa el-Fna Square, the Saadian Tombs, Bahia Palace, and (optionally) Majorelle Gardens. Explore the medina, the Mellah, and the modern district of Gueliz. Overnight stay in Marrakech.

 Day 9: Departure

Transfer to the airport at the agreed time. End of your unforgettable Moroccan adventure.
